Nantong Home Textile Design Week opens in Tongzhou

The event brought together more than 100 top brands and manufacturers, covering the entire industrial chain, from textile research and development and design innovation to intelligent manufacturing.
During the event, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items were invited to display traditional techniques such as Shen embroidery and tie-dying. A specialized zone for artificial intelligence-powered designs was set up on-site, showcasing how scientific technology has revolutionized design processes.
The event also hosted a debut ceremony of original brands, featuring frontier achievements in educational research and outstanding graduation works from 11 top-tier universities.
In addition, several colleges and universities, as well as intangible cultural heritage inheritors, shaped a strategic partnership with home textile enterprises, deepening the industry-university-research integration.
The home textile industry has long been a landmark industry, bringing prosperity to the people of Tongzhou. For several years, the district has been promoting industrial upgrades, developing a platform integrating Nantong Home Textile City, live-streaming e-commerce, innovative designs, digital patterns, and smart logistics. It has also fostered an industrial cluster with 13,000 companies and 24,000 business entities, generating over 130 billion yuan ($18.23 billion) in trade.
Tongzhou also adheres to innovation-driven development by proactively exploring new forms and models of foreign trade, like live-streaming e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce. Currently, the district is home to over 4,000 live-streaming firms, and products of over 300 foreign trade enterprises have been sold globally from here, earning it a recognition as a national base for the transformation and upgrading of the home textile foreign trade.
