Nantong Budweiser Brewery Co leads industry green transformation
As the weather warms up, Budweiser (Nantong) Brewery Co enters its peak production season, with its bustling facility in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (NHIZ) filled with the aroma of brewing beer.
Recognized as a National Green Factory, the Budweiser facility has achieved notable advancements in low-carbon production.
The brewery generates wastewater rich in carbon sources during production, which traditionally required multi-stage treatment to meet discharge standards. Meanwhile, downstream sewage plants spent millions annually using acetic acid to address insufficient carbon sources.
To resolve this, Budweiser collaborated with local ecological authorities and sewage treatment plants to launch a project to uses beer wastewater as a carbon replacement, achieving dual economic and environmental benefits.
Furthering its sustainability goals, the company has introduced heat pump energy centers, distributed rooftop photovoltaic systems, and achieved 100-percent green electricity usage, earning recognition as a municipal near-zero carbon factory in 2024.
Nantong Budweiser aims to continue leveraging technological innovation to increase energy efficiency and reduce pollution, striving to become a shining example of an environmentally friendly enterprise.
