In recent years, the Tongzhou district of Nantong city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has focused on the integration of its industrial and innovation chains, placing equal emphasis on economic growth and the quality of development.
From January to May this year, the gross output value of industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with annual sales of 20 million yuan ($2.98 million) or more – increased by 3.7 percent year-on-year.
One of them is Jiangsu Haohan Information Technology Co Ltd, based in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Tongzhou. It specializes in technology development, consultations, services and the transfer of information, electronic products and networks, as well as system integration and software development.
In the first half of the year, with the strong support of the local government, it managed to overcome the difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the orders it received during the six months exceeded last year's total.
"The government has given a great deal of support to us in pandemic prevention and controls, recruitment and scientific and technological project applications," said Yang Cheng, assistant to the general manager of Haohan Information.
Moving forward, plans are for Tongzhou district to continue to employ new development concepts, to guide it in its bid to further expand economic development. Furthermore, it will strive to have 1,000 industrial enterprises above a designated size by 2024, with gross industrial output value reaching 220 billion yuan ($32.83 billion).
