It was the first major industrial project worth 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion) that Nantong has announced in the current year.
Wu Xinming, acting mayor of Nantong, attended the event and congratulated the parties. He said that Nantong had entered a rapid development period by virtue of the implementation of several national strategies, such as the Yangtze River Delta integration. In 2021, the region's GDP topped 1.1 trillion yuan.
The landing of the Gul-funded electronic components manufacturing project is expected to inject vigor into the growth of Nantong's electronic information sector. Wu advocated that municipal departments should take the initiative to provide services to guarantee its smooth progress.
Tan Enk Ee, chairman of Gul Technologies, thanked Nantong for its long-term support. He said Gul Technologies hoped to further develop its technologies and expand its businesses by virtue of the city's favorable location, fluid traffic conditions, developed industries and top-flight personnel – contributing to the overall development of the electronic information sector in Nantong and in China.
The 10-billion-yuan project will see Gul Technologies engaged in Nantong in the production of various kinds of PCBs and its facility there is expected to become a leading manufacturing base integrating design, research and development and production.
