A research institute dedicated to the eco-friendly development of chips and electronic circuit materials was inaugurated on Dec 24 by Soochow University and manufacturer Nantong Circuit Material Co Ltd, in the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone – situated in the Tongzhou district of Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
The new facility was established as the direct result of industry-university-research cooperation between the university and the company.
It will focus on research into the pole-conducting technology of conductive graphene and carbon nanomaterials, according to Liu Zheng, general manager of Nantong Circuit Material.
The group, based in the zone, specializes in the research, production and marketing of special formula materials for the production process of electronic circuits and chips. It has 16 patents for inventions and was recognized as a provincial high-tech enterprise in 2018.
"In 2020, we carried out cooperation with a team led by Song Tao, an associate professor of the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials at Soochow University and achieved some gainful results on electronic circuit materials," said general manager Liu Zheng.
The College of Nano Science & Technology at Soochow University is one of the first of 17 pilot colleges established by the Ministry of Education in October 2011, to advance higher education system reform.
Gathering resources in scientific technology, knowledge, first-class people and industry development, it has formed a nano materials talent training and development program that covers undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral candidates.
