The government of Tongzhou district – located in Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – held a news conference on Sept 30 to launch a special shopping campaign.
The promotion – running from Sept 30 to Nov 30 – involves the authorities issuing coupons worth 10 million yuan ($1.55 million), in a bid to boost consumer spending.
Compared with last year, the latest campaign covers a wider range of participants and target audiences.
During the campaign, six kinds of e-coupons will be issued to customers through the Union Pay app, including coupons for autos.
In addition to the e-coupons, plans are for Tongzhou to stage a livestreaming activity in Shuijie Street in early November to sell specialty products.
At that event, Tongzhou's time-honored brands, handicrafts, home textiles, agricultural produce and local leisure tourism products – among others – will be promoted to consumers.
