Tongzhou to devote more effort to modernization and opening-up

The 13th Nantong Municipal Congress of the Communist Party of China held on Sept 26-28 marked the beginning of a new era of socialist modernization and indicated the development trajectory over the next five years, Chen Yonghong, Party secretary of Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, said in an interview on Sept 26.
As a leader of high-quality development in Nantong, the district will focus on industry, innovation, and urban development and strive to lay a solid foundation for the city's opening-up.
Tongzhou will make more efforts to promote industrial upgrading and improvement, accelerate the expansion of the new-generation information technology industry to integrated circuit parts, semiconductor optoelectronics, and other fields, extend the automobile and parts industry to energy storage equipment, automotive electronics, system integration, and other fields, and upgrade the intelligent equipment industry to achieve digitalization.
Chen added that Tongzhou will improve its scientific and technological innovation capabilities, and gather, integrate, and utilize innovation resources around the district to promote the construction of the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone as a top high-tech zone in Jiangsu province.
Tongzhou will spare no effort to provide service guarantees for major infrastructure projects such as the high-speed railway along the northern bank of the Yangtze River and the Nantong new airport. Efforts will also be made to continuously promote urban renewal to improve people's living environment.
