Nantong High-tech Zone wins provincial sci-tech fund award
The Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone located in Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently received 11 million yuan ($1.70 million) from a special science and technology fund in recognition of its outstanding achievements in technological innovation last year.
The fund was established by Jiangsu provincial departments. They assessed the innovation-driven high-quality developments of high-tech industrial development zones within the province and formulated a 2021 incentive plan, which was just announced.
The Nantong high-tech zone has received the grant for five consecutive years, according to the zone's sci-tech and talent bureau.
All the money will be spent on technological innovation. It will be used to reward enterprises that have applied to become high & new-tech enterprises and technology-based enterprises, and that have increased R&D investment.
It will also encourage the introduction of new R&D institutions, construction of R&D institutions by enterprises, and construction of sci-tech innovation carriers. Industry-university-research collaborative innovation and the sci-tech service industry will also be supported.
These are on the priority list included in the Policy Opinions on Promoting Sci-Tech Innovation and Leading High-quality Development (Trial) published in Sept 2020.
The implementation of last year's sci-tech innovation policies has now been basically completed. Haoh Information Technology Co Ltd, for example, was rewarded 50,000 yuan for its inclusion on the 2020 Jiangsu list of gazelle enterprises.
