The Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone has achieved initial success in using a multi-functional cloud platform to protect the environment.
The smart platform collects and shares monitoring data on air, water, and solid waste and has proved helpful in strengthening environmental supervision, safety pre-warnings, and emergency guarantee capabilities.
The platform mainly focuses on management of information archiving, ecological environmental supervision and quality information, pollution emission information, and data visualization. The ecological data it gathers will be shared with relevant departments at various levels.
The crucial part of the platform is an intelligent management and control system targeted at key industrial enterprises in the high-tech zone. The system is based on another system that collects real-time video monitoring data at key locations such as corporate governance facilities, waste production workshops, monitoring stations, and sewage outlets. There is also a system designed to control corporate pollutant emission concentration and a supervision system for full process control of hazardous wastes of enterprises.
Through environmental quality analysis, the platform can easily find and address environmental problems in a timely manner. Thanks to new technologies such as big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the smart platform is also able to mobilize different resources and effectively alleviate problems of too much supervisory work, insufficient personnel, and imperfect emergency command.
According to a project designer, more and more new scenarios for environmental protection applications will be added to the cloud platform.
