Three projects of the Nantong High-tech Industrial Development Zone were honored with Jiangsu provincial science and technology awards on June 10th, including a first-prize and two third-prizes.
The success would be unimaginable without the constant effort of a group of tech "masters" committed to innovation and technological breakthroughs.
The zone has prioritized innovation as the strongest pillar of a high-quality economy.
To better transplant technologies into industry, it set up a market- and innovation-oriented framework for successful collaboration between universities and companies.
Jiangsu Yongjin Metal Technology, a leading producer of stainless precision steel strips in China, is in partnership with Nanjing University of Science and Technology. The company has obtained a government fund of 20 million yuan ($2.86 million) to better compete in the global market.
The zone has launched an information platform to help over 100 entrepreneurs and 200 experts from more than 40 academic institutions to keep up with the news in their own fields and exchange ideas.
Like a data warehouse, the platform provides up-to-date information on results of research projects as well as an array of research resources.
By virtue of the platform, Nantong Zhuolida Metal Technology Co Ltd has succeeded in closing a long-term deal with Lei Ting, a professor from Zhongnan University.
As part of the push for mass innovation and entrepreneurship, the zone has adopted a flexible recruitment program to grow its talent pool, especially with academicians and experts from top-notch universities, which is essential to cultivating young start-ups and realizing mass innovation across the country. The most familiar forms of talent-enterprise collaboration include short-term contracts, research projects, and technical consultant employment
Aerocarb Materials Co Ltd recruited Dong Shaoming and his team to resolve the technical problems that the company had encountered through its collaborative work with the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In recognition of all its efforts to promote a mass innovation initiative, the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone was honored by the government for its efficacious bringing together of innovation and entrepreneurship across the region.
