The Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge, linking Shanghai, Suzhou and Nantong, was opened to traffic on July 1st. The completion of the bridge greatly shortens the commute between the three cities.
It only takes 66 minutes to get to Nantong from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station or Shanghai Railway Station. After a mere 20-minute drive from the Nantong Railway Station, the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone comes into sight.

Airline travel is another time-saving option to get to the zone. If you leave work and take the 5 pm flight to the zone from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, you can arrive at Nantong Xingdong Airport as early as 6:30 pm and won't miss your dinner date.

People usually get to the zone by way of the Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge or the Chongqi Bridge. Now they just have a faster choice thanks to the opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge — the ride starting from Shanghai or Suzhou to the zone can be shortened to half an hour and blockages on the Sutong Bridge can be avoided.
Five more cross-river bridges, as well as a high-speed railway to the north of the Yangtze River and another new airport in Nantong, will be built, allowing people more access to the zone.
By way of Nantong and Chongming Island, the high-speed railway links several major cities along the Yangtze river, namely, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan and Chongqing.
The increasing access to the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone indicates that the zone will have more opportunities to support its existing industrial plan, which is designed to develop the pillar sectors of car spare part manufacturing and new energy vehicles and the innovative sector of next generation information technology.
