The China National Intellectual Property Administration, or CNIPA, recently announced the evaluation results for the performances of 19 national intellectual property rights rapid protection centers in 2020 and Nantong city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – was a star performer.

The China Nantong (Home Textiles) Intellectual Property Rights Protection Center reportedly ranked first in terms of its comprehensive score among the 19 evaluated centers.

The evaluation program is designed to spur on governments of all levels to attach greater importance to IPR rapid protection work, as well as to improve the service efficiency of various IPR rapid protection centers.

Under the leadership of the Party committee and the municipal administration of Chuanjiang town – located in Nantong's Tongzhou district – the city's home textiles IPR protection center based in the town focused on high-quality development goals and provided services for the local home textiles industry in 2020.

Last year, the center received a total of 2,067 applications for design patents, 927 of which were rejected while 1,140 cases were accelerated and authorized, with a 100 percent patent authorization rate.

It also accepted 503 design patent infringement complaint cases, 470 of which were concerned with e-commerce and 33 were offline law enforcement cases. All cases were settled through mediation.
