Haimen Industrial Park in Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has recently established an office for convention and exhibition affairs.
Officials said the new department will be responsible for holding regular international exhibitions, arranging for local businesspeople to attend exhibitions outside the city, and attracting investment from China and abroad.
The park is a major collection and distribution center for home textile products in China and also home to China Dearshiqiao International Home Textiles, one of the world's largest home textile markets.
Over the past two years, the park has hosted two Belt and Road import and export fairs and two home textile expos, which have greatly enhanced the international profile of the Dearshiqiao market and brought massive profits to local businesses, according to Wang Fan, director of the park's administrative committee.
"We believe holding regular exhibitions will help us ascend to the international stage," Wang added.
According to Fan Linjie, head of the new institute, the institute aims to attract around 10,000 international buyers to their exhibitions within the next two or three years.
A special zone for foreign trade, covering an area of 30,000 square meters, is also currently under construction and is expected to begin operating in the first half of 2020.
