More than 40 Chinese and foreign scholars and media workers took part in a cultural exchange event in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on July 17.

The activity provided an opportunity for visitors from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Egypt, Ghana, and Argentina, to learn about the profound culture and history, living environment, and economic development of the coastal city.

During the trip, they visited the Nantong Shen Shou Art Gallery and some leading local companies, including China Dearshiqiao International Home Textiles, Nantong Sanjian Holdings (Group) Co, and Zhongtian Technology Group.

Aydin, a Turkish scholar working at China Radio International, expressed his confidence in Nantong's future development. He hailed Nantong as a modern city with many high-tech companies, a comfortable living environment, and a rich culture.

"Nantong will strive to play an important role in promoting the BRI," he said.

As one of the first 14 coastal cities in China to open up, Nantong is strong in the shipping, textile, and electronic information industries.

It is also the host city for the 2019 China Forest Tour Festival, which will begin in October.
