The life sciences and healthcare industry has been a key sector that authorities from Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have been firmly supporting.

For example, authorities have established a medical device industrial park spanning 265 mu (18 hectares) in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone to provide enterprises with comprehensive services and life amenities.

In addition, the zone has established a fund to support the development of medical equipment manufacturers, and experts from various industries have been invited to share insights with local enterprises.

The Chongchuan Economic Development Zone and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have also set up a special fund that has benefited 15 projects and helped attract five enterprises to establish a presence in the zone.

Presently, the zone is home to more than 40 life sciences and healthcare companies. In 2021, the taxable turnover of the large-scale pharmaceutical enterprises in the zone reached nearly 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion). The zone has invested around 2 billion yuan in medical projects to date.

"In the future, we will strengthen support for leading enterprises in the life sciences and healthcare industry and continue to optimize government services," said Yan Jingxiang, secretary of the Party working committee of the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone.
