The groundbreaking ceremony for major projects – in the Chongchuan district of Nantong city, located in East China's Jiangsu province – was held in the Gangzha Economic Development Zone, or GZEDZ, on May 31.

Liu Hao, Party secretary of Chongchuan, attended the ceremony and made a keynote speech, saying the district had successfully focused on attracting high-level and key projects in recent years.

In the first quarter of 2021, Chongchuan had seven projects included in Nantong's major projects tank, involving a total investment of 8.7 billion yuan.

Liu emphasized that intelligent manufacturing was a support industry in Chongchuan's industrial ecosystem that was enjoying a higher profile. Last year, the GZEDZ's intelligent equipment industrial park was recognized as the only provincial characteristic innovation (industrial) demonstration park in Nantong – an honor which reportedly added further momentum to the development of the zone.

Meanwhile, on May 31 a laser intelligent equipment project being built by Shenzhen Dapeng Laser Technology Co Ltd broke ground on the site.

"Coming to Nantong is of significance to the high-quality development of our company," said Tang Pengfei, a representative of the project.

The GZEDZ enterprise development service center was also inaugurated at the ceremony. The center, which is the first of its kind in the city, will reportedly integrate the services and resources from the government and the wider community to promote the rapid growth of resident companies in the zone.
