The new Nantong Chongchuan district was inaugurated on July 28, indicating that the district has entered a new development period.

With the approval of the State Council, the administrative divisions of Nantong were adjusted. The former Chongchuan and Gangzha districts were abolished and a new Chongchuan district was established.

Gangzha Economic Development Zone was merged into the new Chongchuan district.

"I was so honored to witness this historic moment - 68 communities in the previous Gangzha district were turned into 173 communities in the new Chongchuan district," said Qin Juxiang, secretary of CPC general branch of Tangzha subdistrict Gaodian community.

The previous Chongchuan district excelled at the digital management of a collection of urban communities as well as the installation of elevators in old residential buildings, which might benefit the communities in previous Gangzha district.

Wulonghui, part of which settled in the Gangzha Economic Development Zone, is at the junction of the city's old and new areas. After adjusting the administrative divisions, Wulonghui will have the opportunity to become the Nantong subsidiary administrative center.

In addition, adjusting the administrative divisions provides more opportunities for volunteers. The volunteers were formerly Gangzha residents but now are Chongchuan residents, meaning they can help more people in a larger area, according to Lu Huisen, a member of Suyang Microhome (Wei Jia) volunteer team.
