Nantong firm's medical device receives special approval for uterine fibroid treatment
The magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment system developed by Nantong Shende Medical Technology Co Ltd located in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone has been granted special review status by the National Medical Products Administration, entering the "green channel" for innovative medical devices.
The HIFU product is the first in China to apply phased array technology to treat uterine fibroids and serves as the company's flagship product. It addresses challenges in phased focused ultrasound, magnetic resonance guidance and monitoring, and magnetic resonance electromagnetic compatibility, with several key technologies holding independent intellectual property rights and multiple patents.
Cui Lei, the company's director and chief executive officer, stated that in addition to the magnetic resonance-guided phased focused ultrasound treatment system for uterine fibroids, the company plans to apply for innovative approvals for transcranial magnetic wave knives and prostate magnetic wave knives non-invasive treatment systems to further expand the scope of non-invasive medical applications.
