NUPT Nantong research institutes aid chip development in Chongchuan
Established in 2016 through a collaboration between NUPT and Chongchuan, the institute is the first in China to offer a "one-stop" public service platform for the packaging and testing of integrated circuits.
NUPT has long been dedicated to integrated circuit research and talent cultivation, while Chongchuan is home to Tongfu Microelectronics, the world's fourth-largest and China's second-largest semiconductor packaging and testing company.
NUPT has stationed an expert team to provide continuous technical support, Chongchuan has offered free premises and invested in equipment, and Tongfu Microelectronics has designated the institute as its sole official agent in the Chinese mainland, endorsing its packaging and testing capabilities.
The services of the NUPT Nantong Research Institute extend beyond Nantong to the entire Yangtze River Delta and even across China’s entire integrated circuit industry. Starting from a packaging and testing business revenue of 170,000 yuan ($23,525) in 2018, the institute has signed contracts worth nearly 40 million yuan in 2023.
The institute has successfully assisted over 280 small and micro design companies nationwide, solving technical issues related to packaging and testing, reducing entrepreneurial risks, and accelerating the market entry of various products.
