Chongchuan sees consumption surge during holiday
Chongchuan district in Nantong, Jiangsu province witnessed a significant upswing in consumption during the past eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday starting from Sept 29.
Official statistics show that tourism attractions in the district welcomed a total of 547,300 visitors, resulting in tickets receipts totaling 37.19 million yuan ($5.1 million). Nantong Forest Safari Park and Sendi Snow Park stood out, drawing in over 220,000 tourists and generating ticket sales of 33.25 million yuan. This marked an increase of 271.85 percent comparted to the same period last year.

In addition, retail sales in Chongchuan also saw a boost during the holiday. Thirty major retailers, hotels and restaurants in the district achieved a turnover of 675 million yuan, indicating an increase of 11.3 percent year-on-year.
The surge in the retail sector can be attributed in part to a series of special offers on appliances and new energy vehicles. Official statistics show that major key appliance enterprises generated a total turnover of 75 million yuan, an increase of 43.9 percent compared to the same period in last year.
The sales revenue of Mercedes-Benz and four other automobile leaders exceeded 42 million yuan during the holiday, increasing 11.3 percent year-on-year.
