Paper-cutter promotes scenic Nantong with paper cutting video

Li Haifeng, an inheritor of Nantong paper cutting techniques, recently posted a video about his paper cutting works on WeChat to promote the scenery of Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The video shows photos of the attractions in Nantong along with the paper cutting versions in an effort to arouse people's interest in the city.

Paper cutting is one of the oldest folk arts in China, and in 2006 it was listed as part of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage items. Three years later, it was placed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Nantong paper cutting belongs to the South China School and features smooth cutting and a delicate layout. In 2010, Nantong paper cutting was listed among the second batch of Nantong municipal intangible cultural heritage items.
Li comes from a family of paper cutters and has a collection of nearly 10,000 paper cutting works by his family members. He was inspired by his family to pursue the art in the first place and to promote Nantong paper cutting techniques.
