Chongchuan district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has been making increased efforts to provide more public green spaces to residents in recent years.
Efforts include making full use of idle public spaces, adding more facilities for physical activities and children's play, as well as incorporating more cultural elements.
Authorities built six tiny gardens, four micro green spaces, two pocket parks, a high-standard greenway, and renovated four gardens in 2022, adding 58.44 hectares in green spaces.
They also channeled more resources towards improving facilities in public green spaces last year, with more fitness and amusement amenities added.
The district added 15.63 kilometers in paths and seven fitness venues, renovated 9.5 kilometers in fitness trails and 30 fitness grounds, as well as installed fitness facilities in 108 public green spaces in 2022.
In addition, authorities have been trying to incorporate more cultural elements into its green spaces. For example, the 400,000-square-meter Lianyuan Park, which features 11 landscapes themed on ethical culture, is an outstanding example of how local authorities have been improving the living environment and turning the zone into a beautiful garden where people can live in harmony with nature.
