Chongchuan steengthens services for people recovering from COVID-19 at home
Authorities in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province recently implemented a raft of measures to help people recovering from COVID-19 at home.
The number of people seeking medical assistance at fever clinics in the zone has surged following the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions earlier this month. According to the new policy, people can now recover from COVID-19 at home unless they develop serious medical conditions that require hospitalization.
According to a news conference held by the local government on Dec 19, fever clinics across the zone received more than 14,000 people on Dec 18, an increase of 891.4 percent compared to Dec 4, when the new policies were announced.
To deal with the situation, authorities have been striving to build a home-based medical service system.
One of the measures taken by Chongchuan authorities is the launch of a WeChat mini-program that provides medication guidance, psychological assessment, daily health management, fever clinic information, antigen self-test course, and emergency calls.
In addition, the zone has opened hotlines for people recovering from COVID-19 at home.
Residents who have questions regarding home quarantine can contact local medical institutions. Some institutions, including Chongchuan Central Hospital, have been offering round-the-clock hotline services.
Hotlines for those in need of psychological consultation have also been opened.
