The Chongchuan Economic Development Zone and the Tongzhou district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province launched a restoration project on the Baijiagang River on Oct 23.

The project, which will involve dredging, strengthening of slopes and ecological revetment, is expected to be completed by the end of December 2022.

The project will not only restore the river ecology but also prevent soil erosion, as well as improve the living environment in the surrounding area, said a local official.

The river is a border river between the two districts and the experience of restoring the river will be implemented to the other three border rivers, according to authorities.
