E-sports club established in Chongchuan
An e-sports club was set up in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on July 29.
The club is the first in the city that is qualified to take part in the PUBG Champions League (PCL) and is expected to inject new impetus into the development of the digital cultural industry, said a local official.
The club consists of more than 20 players, coaches, managers and data analysts.
The club will be useful in promoting the development of related industries, including e-sports hotels and restaurants, said the head of the club. He added that the aim of the club is to attract more young people to the zone.
The zone has in recent years been making efforts to bolster the development of the city's digital cultural industry, especially in sectors such as livestreaming e-commerce, Animation-Comic-Games (ACG) and e-sport.
In 2021, the combined sales revenue of digital cultural companies accounted for 28.8 percent of the total sales revenues of cultural enterprises in the zone. From January to May, 10 digital cultural companies above designated size were set up in the zone. Nine digital cultural projects were also shortlisted as important cultural projects by the city.
The zone is presently home to 51 digital cultural companies above designated size.
