The Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has been using big data to explore efficient means of governance.
For example, the zone has used cutting-edge technologies to establish three integrated real-time platforms to supervise, manage and respond to social security needs. These platforms include a coordinated command center, the Yangtze River ecological protection platform and a real estate supervising platform.
The coordinated command center uses an online platform and multiple video devices to collect information and is capable of providing early warnings for emergencies. The platform can also help authorities identify security hazards and manage emergencies efficiently, said Wang Qiang, director of the command center.
Meanwhile, the Yangtze River ecological protection platform is capable of collecting data related to agriculture, ecology, weather, culture and tourism, and security along the river. Local authorities have leveraged the platform to establish a coordinated mechanism to respond to emergencies that take place on the river.
Lastly, the real estate supervising platform provides information on matters such as vacancy rate, taxes and risks of related enterprises.
As Nantong has been named a national pilot city for modern social governance, the zone will do its best to improve the city's governance, according to authorities.
