Gu Xiaosong, 顾晓松

Gu Xiaosong, born on Dec 2 in 1953, is an expert in medical tissue engineering and nerve regeneration. In 1980 Gu graduated from Nantong Medical College – now the Medical School of Nantong University – and in 1988 he obtained a doctorate in medicine from Shanghai Medical University, which is now the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University.
At present, Gu serves as the director of the Jiangsu provincial key lab of neuroregeneration based at Nantong University. He is also deputy president of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering and honorary president of the Chinese Society For Anatomical Sciences.
Gu has long engaged in research into tissue engineering nerves and nerve regeneration, being widely acclaimed for having made outstanding contributions to the transformation of the field in China.
In 2015, Gu was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
