Cai Meifeng is a specialist in geotechnical engineering and mining engineering. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2013. At present, he is a professor of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and the convener of the assessment division for the mining engineering discipline of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee.
Cai has engaged in teaching and research of rock mechanics and mining engineering for a long time and has been awarded seven national prizes for "Technical Invention", "Progress in Science and Technology" and "Teaching Achievement". In 2008, 2009, 2010, he was respectively awarded the title of National Great Teacher, National Model Teacher and National Outstanding Worker of Science and Technology.
