A total of 132 enterprises in Chongchuan district, including Jiangsu Aolan Engineering Glass, among the first batch of proposed national-level technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises for 2026 in Jiangsu province.

Aolan Glass, one of the companies, has developed building-integrated photovoltaic glass that functions as both a building material and an electricity generator. The glass is made by sandwiching micron-scale thin-film cells between two layers of glass through precision thin-film deposition.

Traditional rooftop photovoltaic panels can only be installed on roofs. Aolan Glass uses laser patterning to modify the transparency of thin-film materials, enabling its glass to replace conventional curtain walls and turn skyscraper facades into power-generating surfaces.

This technology reflects the company's ongoing investment in research and development. Aolan Glass has established several provincial-level R&D platforms, filed 117 patent applications, and received 81 patents. It has also been recognized as a national patent-intensive enterprise.

Aolan Glass's products have been featured in landmark projects, including venues for the Beijing Olympics and the China Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. The company also exports to Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and other countries and regions.
