A batch of home textile products declared under the list-based model for cross-border e-commerce retail exports cleared customs at the upgraded Dieshiqiao customs-supervised facility in Haimen district, Nantong, on Sept 30.

The shipment was the first cross-border e-commerce retail export to clear customs locally in Haimen. It moved through customs under a procedure based on itemized-list release and consolidated declaration. The export model targets individual consumers overseas and is suited to small-batch, high-frequency online orders.

Such orders are common at Dieshiqiao, China's largest home textile market and the birthplace of market procurement trade in Jiangsu. It has more than 10,000 home textile businesses, with products sold to over 130 countries and regions.

To support such trade, the facility was upgraded. It covers more than 10,000 square meters and is equipped with X-ray machines and dedicated sorting lines for cross-border shipments. It handles declaration, inspection, sorting, and release in a single integrated process, easing problems such as the burden of having goods inspected elsewhere, logistics bottlenecks, and slow clearance. The first shipment cleared customs in 2.5 hours.
