China Tianying, a Hai'an-based company, received a second-class award for its project on "Key Technologies and Equipment for Directional Thermal Conversion of Biomass" during the National Science and Technology Award Conference in Beijing on July 8.

This marks Hai'an's first second-class National Science and Technology Award since 2018.

The project addresses key challenges in biomass utilization, such as low product yield, high energy consumption, and heavy pollution. It developed a new approach that enables efficient production of high-value products like fuels and materials, supporting China's energy security and carbon neutrality goals.

Over the past five years, Hai'an has strengthened its innovation ecosystem, with 15 projects receiving science and technology awards at the provincial level or above.
