The Nantong Modern Art Museum in Jiangsu province inaugurated an exhibition on May 14, showcasing the exquisite art of mounting and classical woodwork masterpieces, accompanied by an art symposium.

The art of mounting calligraphy and paintings is renowned for its use of silk as its attire and craftsmanship as its soul. It adheres to ancient techniques passed down through the ages, ensuring that timeless masterpieces remain vibrant and enduring. In contrast, classical woodwork highlights the intricate skill of mortise-and-tenon joints, with each piece and structure reflecting the true essence of Eastern lifestyle aesthetics.

The exhibition presents a diverse array of mounting styles and forms, including traditional framed pieces and standing scrolls. The exhibits range from works that capture the charm of landscapes through a modern aesthetic lens to elegant, small pieces, such as folding fans with silk mounts. Additionally, there are framed works displaying the meticulous mounting of paper cuttings and sunset sailboat themes, alongside innovative mounting styles such as incorporating hand scrolls into frames.
