The Qingming Festival holiday, which coincided with the spring break for primary and secondary school students, drove a strong surge in tourism in Qidong this year, supported by pleasant weather and abundant cultural and tourism offerings.
Data show that the city received a total of 464,000 visits, up 21.6 percent year-on-year, while tourism revenue reached 198 million yuan ($28.98 million), up 20.2 percent year-on-year.
At the Yuantuojiao Scenic Area, vibrant tulips were in full bloom, creating a colorful spring landscape. Complementing the floral display, a lively rural market was held simultaneously, featuring more than 50 varieties of local agricultural specialties. From seafood sourced at Lyusi Fishing Port to seasonal fruits and vegetables, the market attracted large crowds.
Study tours and family-oriented travel emerged as new growth drivers in the tourism market. At Tang World, more than 30 immersive study programs proved especially popular among children. Dressed in traditional Tang-style attire, young participants recited classical poetry and learned dance inspired by the Tang Dynasty (618-907), combining education with cultural experience.
