Woodblock paintings showcase beauty of traditional Chinese culture

The joint exhibition of woodblock Chinese New Year paintings from Nantong and Mianzhu, Sichuan province, has been held at the Nantong Eminent Figures Museum, Jiangsu province.

Woodblock Chinese New Year paintings, as a vibrant showcase of China's rich traditional culture, bear the marks of time and embody folk customs.

This exhibition features the first joint display of the woodblock Chinese New Year paintings from both cities. Over 60 exquisite paintings are exhibited, covering classic themes such as blessings and auspiciousness, folk life, and historical stories.

Nantong woodblock Chinese New Year paintings are characterized by their concise lines and simple colors. These artworks reflect the folk customs of the Jianghai Plain. Their artistic style embodies the broad, inclusive cultural traits of the Jianghai region, making them a symbol of Chinese New Year traditions in the memories of Nantong residents.

In contrast, Mianzhu woodblock Chinese New Year paintings are celebrated for their detailed craftsmanship and vibrant colors. Their works vividly display the lively and profound Bashu Culture, highlighting the vibrant folk customs of western Sichuan province.

Additionally, during the exhibition, interactive activities such as heritage exchange sessions and the making of woodblock paintings are being held, bringing traditional techniques into daily life.
