Chongchuan district in Nantong is getting the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030) off to a strong start after its high-quality development achievements in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
Economic performance leads the way
The district's GDP is expected to maintain an average annual growth rate of 5.6 percent, with its total output consistently ranking first in Nantong. Market vitality has surged, with its number of market entities exceeding 240,000. The total value of foreign trade imports and exports has surpassed 90 billion yuan ($12.92 billion), while per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 72,200 yuan, both ranking first in the city.
Industrial strength enhanced
Chongchuan has been selected as one of China's top 100 industrial districts for four consecutive years. Its industrial output value above designated size increased by 69 percent compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). The district has cultivated 25 national-level specialized and sophisticated "little giant" enterprises, with four companies, including Zeyu Intelligent, successfully listed on stock exchanges.
Major projects gather pace
A total of 215 major projects have been signed and registered, with a total investment exceeding 185 billion yuan. Actual utilized foreign investment surpassed $1 billion. Several headquarters projects of central state-owned enterprise, including China Railway No 4 Engineering Group, have been established in the district.
Innovation capabilities upgraded
Chongchuan ranks among the top 50 districts nationwide in the CCID Innovation Top 100 Districts and places in the top 10 in Jiangsu province. Innovative achievements are continually emerging, with several companies making breakthroughs in key technologies. The district now boasts over 11,000 valid invention patents, ranking first in the city.
Natural environment improves
The ecological landscape is becoming increasingly vibrant, with 36 new pocket parks added. The total area of park green spaces in the district has increased by 315 hectares compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
Green transformation accelerates
The district has been named as part of the first batch of national natural resource conservation and intensive utilization demonstration zones, while Dasheng Group has built the country's first carbon-neutral intelligent spinning factory.
