Tongzhou rolls out government work report

The 2025 government work report of Tongzhou district, Nantong, has been released. It summarizes 2025 work, reviews progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), sets targets for the 15th Five-Year Plan, and outlines plans for 2026.

According to the report, Tongzhou's gross regional product (GRP) in 2025 is estimated to rise by about 6 percent, and general public budget revenue is expected to reach 8.11 billion yuan ($1.17 billion).

Over the past five years, Tongzhou made great strides. GRP and general public budget revenue grew at an average annual rate of 5.9 percent and 4.0 percent, respectively. The number of economically developed towns at the provincial level rose to two. A total of 608 sci-tech innovation projects were introduced, and the number of high-tech enterprises doubled. Also, 54.26 billion yuan was invested in improving livelihoods.

For the 15th Five-Year Plan, Tongzhou aims high. GRP is set to reach 260 billion yuan, and general public budget revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan. The number of high-tech firms is anticipated to surpass 1,000, with specialized and sophisticated enterprises at or above the provincial level of over 250. Cross-border e-commerce is expected to grow 40 percent annually, and foreign trade to surpass 100 billion yuan.

In 2026, Tongzhou aims for over 6 percent GRP growth and a 3 percent increase in public budget revenue. Fixed asset investment is expected to remain stable and of high quality. Foreign investment and trade are to expand and upgrade. Retail sales of consumer goods are anticipated to grow around 5 percent. Residents' income should align with the overall economic growth.
