The December 2025 issue of the authoritative international journal Maritime Reporter and Engineering News has released its annual list of "Great Ships of 2025", with Wind Ally — a new-generation wind turbine foundation installation vessel built by COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore for Denmark's Cadeler — earning a place on the prestigious roster.
The annual ranking recognizes the world's most outstanding vessel projects for excellence in innovation, environmental performance, and technological advancement. It is widely seen as a benchmark within the global maritime industry.
Wind Ally follows the successful delivery of Wind Peak, the world's first vessel of its kind, and Wind Pace, the second in the series, marking another landmark project delivered by COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore.
Delivered in September 2025, the vessel is purpose-built for complex deep- and far-sea conditions. It features major breakthroughs in payload, lifting capacity, and intelligent operations, enabling the efficient transport and installation of next-generation ultra-large wind turbine foundations.
The vessels in this series share a number of industry-leading specifications, including an expansive 5,600-square-meter deck, effective jacking loads exceeding 17,600 metric tons, a main crane with a lifting capacity of over 3,300 tons, and an advanced hybrid power system.
Together, these features represent the highest technical standards and environmental benchmarks currently achieved by jack-up wind installation vessels worldwide.
Through sustained technological innovation, reliable project delivery, and a growing portfolio of high-end vessels, COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore is contributing a vital Chinese force to the global transition toward green energy.
