The Heavy Equipment and Logistics Industry Development Conference was held in Qidong, Nantong on Nov 12, bringing together representatives of industry associations, research institutions, universities, and enterprises.

The event focused on policy interpretation, market trends, technological innovation, and integrated development in the heavy equipment and logistics sector, while showcasing cutting-edge equipment and technologies.

Heavy equipment logistics is a critical component of transportation, moving essential machinery for the national power, heavy industry, petrochemicals, and metallurgy sectors.

Qidong's strategic location and infrastructure give it a unique advantage in this sector. The city boasts 185 kilometers of coastline along the Yangtze River and the sea, anchored by the modern multi-modal Lyusi Port, which integrates river, rail, and sea transport. The port has two 100,000-metric-ton general cargo berths, two 100,000-ton container berths, a heavy-lift berth, three enterprise berths, and fourteen inland transfer berths for thousand-ton vessels. From the port, large cargoes such as wind turbine blades and industrial machinery reach over 40 countries and regions across six continents.

During the conference, the new Heavy Equipment Logistics Smart Platform was launched. The platform incorporates intelligent applications for data submission, route selection, digital surveys, approval assistance, safety monitoring, and scheduling. It is expected to significantly enhance the digital and intelligent management capabilities of China's heavy logistics industry.
