Nantong-made large container ship embarks sea trial
The fifth new generation 16,828-TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) container ship, Oriental Lavender, built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co, embarked on its sea trial in Chongchuan district, Nantong, on Nov 20.
The ship's sea trial signifies the successful completion of building this series of high-quality vessels, demonstrating China's leading role in the design and construction of large container ships worldwide.
The series of container ships measures about 367 meters in length, has a maximum deadweight of 165,000 metric tons, and features the latest technological advancements. It offers unique benefits in intelligent management systems, energy efficiency, and environmental protection.
