Haohe River Scenic Area in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has recently launched shared drones, allowing visitors to capture breathtaking scenery from the air with just a smartphone.

The shared drone rental cabinet has two parts: the lower part stores five quadcopter drones, and the upper screen constantly shows operating instructions.

Visitors can use Alipay or WeChat to scan a QR code at the rental point to access a drone and spare battery, then download the relevant app. Connecting the device via Bluetooth and choosing a flight mode enables users to start their aerial photography immediately. The smart AI tracking system allows users to select modes like follow, zoom out, orbit, and ascend without prior experience. After filming, photos are automatically generated.

This drone-sharing service depends on China Mobile's 5G network and its low-altitude platform, providing real-time control and seamless image transmission. The drones feature automatic obstacle avoidance and one-key return for enhanced safety.

Currently, the scenic area offers six packages, including a 20-minute experience at 18.9 yuan ($2.67), a 30-minute rental at 29.9 yuan, and a 60-minute rental at 49.8 yuan, suitable for both beginners and advanced aerial photography enthusiasts.

This service is presently in pilot at the boat dock and will expand gradually to more locations within the scenic area based on feedback.
