A group of over 50 teachers and students from Nantong University recently set off on a captivating journey to uncover the cultural allure of Shigang town, Tongzhou district.

Browsing exhibits and documents at Shigang Cultural Museum, the group delved into the town's millennium-old history. At the memorial hall of martial artist Xu Jiliu, they learned vivid stories about the figure and admired martial arts artifacts.

He Cunju, a haven for redwood and bamboo carvings, offered a mesmerizing experience. The students watched in awe as artisans skillfully transformed raw materials into exquisite works of art.

At a fermented bean curd workshop, they learned about the craft and praised the delicate curd. In Guangji Bridge Community, the magic of Peking Opera unfolded. A Malaysian student was captivated, saying, "Though I didn't understand all the lyrics, I felt its unique charm."

At Jieguan Pavilion, which was once visited by the great Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Jian, the students discovered the deep connections between this historical figure and Shigang.

Dushiyuan Village, a provincial tourism village and a characteristic rural gem, offered a serene escape. They savored local snacks like steamed cakes and enjoyed the pastoral scenery, praising rural vitalization achievements.

This event, an example of fruitful cooperation between Nantong University Library and Tongzhou Library, went beyond mere exploration. By bringing in international students, it breathed new life into local history and culture, turning them into a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world.
