Four students from Dongzhou Primary School in Haimen district, Nantong, recently traveled to Vienna, Austria, to take part in the 14th World Peace Choral Festival, one of the most important choral festivals worldwide.
Over 40 choruses from more than 20 countries and regions, including Austria, China, Germany, Hungary, Sweden, and Poland, gathered in this music city. Their harmonious voices crossed language barriers, sharing messages of peace and friendship worldwide through their songs.
The grand finale concert of the choir festival was held at Vienna's Golden Hall. Accompanied by the melodious strains of Hymn to Freedom and Swing, four young performers from Haimen joined children from Beijing, Shenzhen, and Qingdao to form the Hymnfun Children's Choir for a remarkable appearance.
Following the performance, the Hymnfun Children's Choir was honored with the "Angel of Peace" Award in recognition of their contributions to promoting global peace and cultural exchange.
In addition to performances at the Vienna International Center and the Vienna MuTh Concert Hall, the students participated in cultural exchange activities. These included charity performances at nursing homes, a visit to the Museum of Sound (Haus der Musik), and photo sessions at the Mozart statue.
Founded in 2010, the World Peace Choral Festival is held every summer in Vienna, guided by the motto "coming together to sing, singing for a better future". The festival includes concerts, competitions, and charity events, enjoying strong backing from the United Nations and various governments.
