Haimen sees 60.3% increase in foreign trade volume
Haimen district, Nantong, reported a foreign trade import and export volume of 19.49 billion yuan ($2.71 billion) in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 60.3 percent increase year-on-year and achieving the highest growth rate among all counties and districts in Nantong.
Corporate entities have become the main drivers of foreign trade growth. Yanda (Haimen) Heavy Equipment Manufacturing Co, for example, has experienced its export value increase nearly six times year-on-year, with orders secured through 2026.
Capitalizing on its port resource advantages, Yanda has partnered with companies such as Aeolon Wind Power to create specialized industrial clusters focused on offshore engineering modules and wind power equipment. This effort positions them as a new engine for regional export growth.
Furthermore, Haimen has offered comprehensive tracking support for the top 30 export companies, covering customs clearance, logistics, foreign exchange settlements, and financing. This assistance helps these companies solidify their presence in traditional markets and venture into emerging markets, contributing to the goal of reaching 30 billion yuan in import-export trade during the first three quarters.
In the latter half of the year, Haimen aims to promote steady and sustained growth in foreign trade by implementing policy innovations, enhancing services, and pioneering new business models, to further reinforce the open economy of Nantong and Jiangsu province.
