Hai'an hosts thrilling U16 basketball showdown

The 2025 "Travel with Sports Events" Cup U16 Men's Basketball International Challenge was held in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, from July 4 to 6. Three national U16 teams — China, New Zealand, and Australia — delivered three days of intense, high-level competition that thrilled local basketball fans.
The tournament kicked off with a narrow victory for New Zealand over Australia, ending 64–62. On July 5, China's U16 team edged past New Zealand with a close 67–64 win. In the final game on July 6, China faced Australia and lost 59–77 in a hard-fought match.
The event offered fans from Hai'an and neighboring areas a unique chance to witness top-tier youth basketball up close, boosting the sport's popularity. By combining basketball with food, entertainment, and tourism, the tournament also stimulated local spending on dining, lodging, and leisure, creating a festive atmosphere and driving economic benefits.
