The Merchants Industry Innovation Center, an innovation platform established by China Merchants Industry Digital Technology Co, was inaugurated in Haimen on June 26. It concentrates on R&D and the application of marine and deep-sea technologies.

The center comprises three main laboratories: one for electric propulsion and process automation systems, another for intelligent operation and maintenance technology for ships and deep-sea operations, and a third for the development and testing of marine cybersecurity technology.

The center intends to meet future technological needs in the maritime sector, promoting Haimen's shipbuilding and offshore engineering industries to adopt high-end, intelligent, and green transformations.

Building on Haimen's industrial ecosystem and infrastructure, it will work with shipowners, classification societies, and suppliers to promote mutual growth and support high-quality industry development in the region.

Founded by China Merchants Industry Holdings Co in August 2023, China Merchants Industry Digital Technology Co has gained momentum with 160 active projects and total orders surpassing 350 million yuan ($48.85 million). Its portfolio includes vessel shaft generators, hybrid power systems, automation, and intelligent solutions.
