A memorial hall in honor of Li Chunming (1894-1976), revered as a famous overseas Chinese educationalist, opened on Aprol 9 in Xiting town, Tongzhou district, Nantong, the hometown of this esteemed figure.

Invited by Chen Jiageng, a renowned overseas Chinese leader in Southeast Asia, Li headed for Singapore to begin his work in Chinese language education in 1918. He independently founded Zhonghua Middle School in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1939, which nurtured numerous talents, primarily among the younger generations of overseas Chinese. Grateful for Li's contributions, Southeast Asian overseas Chinese communities hailed him as a pioneer in advanced education for overseas Chinese.

The memorial hall is set to become a crucial venue for international cultural exchange events and showcase contemporary accomplishments in Chinese language education, thereby facilitating the global dissemination of Chinese culture.
