The Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (NHIZ) ranked 47th in the 2024 valuation results for national high-tech zones, according to the list released by China's Ministry of industry and Information Technology on Dec 23.

In recent years, NHIZ has made steady progress by prioritizing technological innovation to drive industrial transformation. The zone has optimized its core industries, expanded emerging sectors, and laid the groundwork for future industries, fostering new quality productive forces suited to local strengths.

The evaluation assessed 178 national high-tech zones across six key areas: total industrial output, revenue from high-tech industries, enterprise R&D investment intensity, per capita technology transaction value, the number of high-quality enterprises, and the overall business environment.

Jiangsu province performed exceptionally well in the rankings, with nine national high-tech zones making it into the top 50 — the highest number of any province in China.
