Qidong shines bright with National Day tourist surge

According to the Qidong culture, radio, television, and tourism bureau, this year's National Day holiday saw a significant boost in tourism, with the city welcoming 935,000 visitors and generating 886 million yuan ($125.38 million) in total tourism revenue – year-on-year growth rates of 20.01 percent and 15.36 percent, respectively.
Many tourists from outside the city arrived early at popular attractions to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the horizon. After enjoying the spectacle, they participated in activities like taking ox cart rides along the beach and playing in the surf.
Qitang Ancient City offered a series of engaging performances, including fireworks displays and parades of costumed performers. Immersive performances and scattered mini-shows kept nearly 80,000 visitors entertained throughout the holiday.
In addition to the major attractions, activities like camping, barbecuing, and fishing among fragrant osmanthus trees attracted many visitors seeking a more relaxed experience.
Qidong also hosted a variety of cultural events during the holiday, including public performances, traditional art showcases, theatrical productions, and music festivals, offering visitors a taste of the city's unique coastal culture. Public cultural venues such as libraries, cultural centers, and museums held 27 events, attracting nearly 50,000 visitors.
Fresh seafood shopping was another highlight among tourists. At Lyusi Fishing Port and local markets, visitors eagerly browsed seafood and bargained for the best deals on local delicacies, bringing a flavorful touch to their Qidong experience.
