Wu Yuanxin, curator of the Nantong Blue Calico Museum and dean of the School of Intangible Cultural Heritage at Nantong University, was invited to demonstrate his expertise at the Confucius Institute of Cafoscari University of Venice in Italy from Sept 16 to 21.

After sharing blue calico printing and dyeing techniques with an audience of over 300 teachers and students, Wu offered a hands-on experience to all attendees.

In his address, the craftsman said he hopes the Italian community will embrace China's intangible cultural legacy through his demonstrations, aiding in the global dissemination of Chinese culture.

This initiative is part of a commemorative activity marking the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death. By retracing Marco Polo's steps in China, the commemoration showcases Chinese intangible cultural treasures at the locations he once visited, aiming to introduce more Italians to the distinctive charm of traditional Chinese culture.
