The pear industry is a key feature of Hai'an, with over 333 hectares of pear orchards across the city.
To preserve and develop the "Hai'an Crispy Pear" brand, the Jiangsu Modern Agriculture Pear Industry Technology System's Hai'an Demonstration Base focuses on improving quality, expanding scale, and enhancing technology. This approach is transforming the pear industry into a model for rural vitalization and increasing farmers' incomes.
The Jianguo Family Farm, which has a 30-year history of pear cultivation, has implemented a "main trunk" cultivation model that is now being used, enhancing the efficiency of branch growth from the trunk and enabling denser planting.
In addition, the farm also leverages 5G technology for smart management, merging irrigation and fertilization processes. This advanced system facilitates real-time monitoring of critical metrics, such as soil moisture and temperature, using a smartphone, enabling prompt adjustments to maintain optimal conditions.
Junxin Farm saw a bumper harvest this year, with more than 500 kilograms of pears than last year. This success is attributed to modern upgrades, including installing 2-meter-high "Y" trellises with mechanized key farming processes.
According to Cai Guangzhou, director of the Hai'an Demonstration Base, these innovations play a crucial role in shaping the future. The focus is placed on the modernization of aging orchards, the optimization of tree structures, and the expansion of the pear industry value chain.
These efforts are geared towards injecting new vitality into the Hai'an Crispy Pear industry, ensuring its high-quality development.
